DMCA Policy - BytebaseX

BytebaseX (bytebasex.com) respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects the same from anyone submitting content, like comments, on this site. This page explains how to report content you believe infringes your copyright, and what happens after you do.

Our Approach to Copyright

We try to make sure everything published on BytebaseX is either our own original work or a resource that's meant to be shared for free, as explained in our Disclaimer and Terms and Conditions. Mistakes can still happen. If something here was shared without proper permission, we want to know so we can fix it.

Filing a DMCA Takedown Notice

If you believe content on BytebaseX infringes your copyright, send a written notice to the email below. Under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), your notice should include:

  • Your physical or electronic signature.
  • A description of the copyrighted work you believe has been infringed.
  • The exact URL or location of the material on BytebaseX you're reporting.
  • Your contact information (name, address, phone number, and email).
  • A statement that you have a good faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  • A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the above information is accurate and that you're the copyright owner or authorized to act on their behalf.

Send your notice to contact@bytebasex.com with the subject line "DMCA Takedown Request."

What Happens Next

We review every notice we receive. If we determine that the notice appears valid and complete, we may remove or disable access to the reported material as quickly as we reasonably can, and let you know once it's done. Notices missing the information listed above may take longer to process, since we'll need to follow up for details first.

Counter-Notification

If content of yours was removed because of a DMCA notice and you believe this was a mistake, you can send a counter-notice to the same email. It should include:

  • Your physical or electronic signature.
  • Identification of the material that was removed, and where it appeared before removal.
  • A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification.
  • Your name, address, and phone number, along with a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the Federal District Court for the judicial district where your address is located, or, if your address is outside the United States, any judicial district in which BytebaseX may be found, and that you'll accept service of process from the person who filed the original notice or their agent.

We review counter-notices in good faith, though we're not able to offer legal advice on how to file one.

Repeat Infringement

BytebaseX is a single-author blog, not a platform for user uploads, so this mostly applies to comments. Even so, we take copyright seriously, and repeated or clear violations may result in removal of the relevant content or, if needed, restrictions on someone's ability to comment here.
